GRINSHILL
and the other North Shropshire sandstone hills

Grinshill is a small hill to the north of Shrewsbury.

It has been quarried for a high quality yellowish grey sandstone which is seen in buildings throughout the county.

This sandstone hill guards some of the best early dinosaur footprints that have been found in the county, including those of a Rhynchosaur. If you want to see some footprints for yourself, click here, or see them for real at Rowley's House Museum in Shrewsbury!
